Wow, the end of the year is approaching fast! 2009 just went so quickly! I truly hope you have all had a wonderful year and are looking forward to a fantastic year ahead. I know I am very excited for what the new year will bring, not least of which are some very exciting new things concerning my art and gift ranges! Some fantastic new products are lined up for release that you won't see anywhere else, and we also have a much bigger surprise in store but you will just have to wait to find out!

Christmas Trading Guide:
We are staying OPEN this year throughout Christmas, so your orders will be processed and shipped ultra fast! That said, it is best to try and get your orders in before the following dates to give your package the best chance of arriving before Christmas:

Australian orders: 15th December, regular post or 18th December Express Post.
Internatioanl Orders: 10th December regular post or 15th December Express Post.

Please note, these dates are a guide only and will not necessarily guarantee delivery before Christmas. By the same token, we have shipped orders only a couple of days before Christmas to have them arrive in time before, so do utilise Express Shipping where you can!

I would like to personally extend a very Merry Christmas to all of you beautiful people who support my art and inspired gifts. I think most of my entries in this journal begin with me explaining my latest absence! I really don't get much time to blog on here. The most I often do is my monthly art update and I think I've even forgotten that a few times this year! Managing my art and other interests while working full time on my PhD has been quite a juggling act, but I am enjoying myself. When I feel overwhelmed by it all, which I confess is more than a little often, I just try and remember how lucky I am to be doing what I am and how much I would wish to be in this position if I weren't in it! Oh that pesky green grass on the other side... No, for the most part, though extremely busy, I am enjoying myself. Particularly lately as I have hunkered down into the Dickens novels in preparation for my third thesis chapter. Any way, yesterday my beautiful Ash and I went to Narrabeen beach to see a friend's band play (an absolutely knock-your-socks-off amazing funk/soul octet) and we were mucking around taking some photos on the beach afterwards. They were really fun and turned out quite nicely so I thought I would share just a few. PLUS, they prove that I am still actually physically present somewhere in the world, if not online haha :)

I found this article really interesting: I love the psychology and neuroscience behind the perception and interpretation of art. Have a read:

"The secret behind Mona Lisa's enigmatic smile has been explained by scientists who believe it changes depending on which part of the eye sees it first."

"One of the charms of the world's most famous painting is that she appears radiant one moment and then serious and sardonic the next.

Now scientists claim to have come up with an answer to her changing moods - our eyes are sending mixed signals to the brain.

They believe Mona Lisa's smile depends on what cells in the retina pick up the image and what channel the image is transmitted through in the brain.

Sometimes one channel wins over the other, and you see the smile, sometimes others take over and you do not see the smile.

Different cells in the eye are designed to pick up different colours, contrasts, backgrounds and foregrounds. Some deal with central vision while others with peripheral."

Product Update: Fine Art Prints!
For some time now I have been struggling with the dilemma of how best to represent my original artworks in the prints that I offer. While many people seem to be more than happy with the standard frame sizes and the beautiful satin-like waterproof semi-gloss paper they are offered on, I have always had a niggling issue with having to crop the original dimensions of the artworks to fit in with these sizes. But, on the other hand, I do agree that an easily frameable print is a more useful product for many of our customers, and the semi-gloss effect is truly beautiful. So, to make amends for this dilemma and after extensive trialing and testing, I am very pleased to (re)introduce another print option to our current four sizes: our Fine Art Original Replicas are sized at exactly the dimensions of the original artwork and are printed on a luxuriously thick, slightly textured 100% cotton watercolour paper, making them look and feel just like the original artworks! This great new print option is available now in all of our Fairy and Fantasy Art Print Galleries!

September Website Update: New Art and GREAT New Products!

It is with a glad heart that I welcome the first days of Spring to the air and trees and flowers around me! The warmth is picking up steadily here in Sydney and the fresh blooming freesias that line the roads and the budding blossoms dappling the trees fill the air with such a magical scent! And as a special omen of good luck, as I update this website it is the 9th hour of the 9th day of the 9th month of 2009! Over the last month I have been hard at work, managing to paint a new painting and begin several others that I will hopefully be able to finish over the next months, and also prepare for some very exciting product releases below!

New Art: Dizzy Heights
Firstly, the new artwork: called 'Dizzy Heights', it depicts one of my tiny little dragons perched high above the dark, swirling clouds on an ancient stone parapet. He reaches his neck out curiously to peer at the beautiful butterflies that float on the breeze. This beautiful artwork is available in all print sizes now in the Fantasy and Dragon Art Gallery.

New Products: Lace Cameo Pendant Chokers!
We have finally brought back our cameo pendant chokers but in a new and improved style! It's the last month of Winter here in Australia and I can already feel the joy of Spring in the air! New Product: T-Shirts!
I have finally decided to release these T-Shirts for sale after a few months of enjoyable product testing wearing them around myself! They are simply gorgeous items and so cute with almost any outfit! 'Dream Big' was the original design, featuring the cute little dragon painting 'Up in the Air', but I just couldn't resist the idea of a T-Shirt with this month's latest painting, the equally adorable 'Peekaboo'! When we introduced our beautiful Cuff Bracelets in June last year, we were excited to release this beautiful, new and unique product to fairy art and jewellery collectors. Now, after a year, we are slimming the line down again to carry only one of our previous three designs: our most popular and the most beautiful design of the three. The available artwork designs can now only be purchased in this setting, in your choice of gold or silver. BUT, to appease you and to improve this gorgeous line even further, we have implemented a dramatic price cut! You can now own any of these gorgeous bracelets for only USD$16.00 (AUD$19.95) each! Product News: Discontinued Products
In further shaping our range ready for future updates, we have decided to discontinue certain product lines, such as our Satin Shoulder Bags. This line has now been discontinued and I will be placing remaining stock on sale in the Sales and Specials gallery in the coming weeks. Also soon to be discontinued are our Keyrings. While a beautiful and popular little product, these keyrings are becoming too difficult to manufacture and the high risk of damaged leftover stock makes it too expensive to continue offering them. We will however, continue to offer our beautiful Metal Keyrings and are considering options for further keychains in the future.
